Clear Cache and Cookies

Clearing Cache and Cookies in your Internet Browser:

Many of the common technical errors that occur on websites can be solved by clearing the Temporary Internet Files (Cache and Cookies  within your browser. If you are receiving an error message or a page is not loading, clearing the cache and cookies is the first step to take.

When should I clear my cache and cookies?

The following scenarios are often solved by clearing the cache and cookies, reopening the browser, and logging back in:

· Can’t view a page on the site

· Page does not load

· Page no longer exists

· Can’t login

· Page cannot be displayed

· You receive an error message of any type.

How do I clear my cache and cookies?

Here are the steps for the most commonly-used browsers. Make sure you save any work you have open in your browser before following these steps, as you will be logged out of all websites by this process.

Internet Explorer 9 and 10:

1. Click the gear icon in the top right of the browser window and select Internet Options.

2. On the General tab, click Delete in the Browsing History section.

3. Deselect all of the checked boxes except Temporary Internet Files and Cookies (deselect the ‘Preserve Favorites website data’ as well.)

4. Click Delete and click OK.

Internet Explorer 8:

1. Go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options.

2. On the General tab, click Delete in the Browsing History section.

3. Deselect all of the check boxes except Temporary Internet Files and Cookies (deselect the ‘Preserve Favorites website data’ as well.)

4. Click Delete and then click OK.

Internet Explorer 7:

1. Go to the Tools menu and select Delete Browsing History.

2. Click Delete Files and then click Yes.

3. Click Delete Cookies and then click Yes.

4. Click OK.

Google Chrome:

1. Go to the top right of the browser toolbar and click on the controls icon (the 3 horizontal lines to the right of the address bar).

2. Move your cursor over Tools and select Clear browsing data.

3. From the Obliterate the following items from menu, select the beginning of time.

4. Check the boxes for Cached images and files and Cookies and other site and plug-in data and uncheck all the other boxes.

5. Click Clear browsing data.

Mozilla Firefox:

1. Go to the History menu and select Clear Recent History.

2. In the “Time range to clear” dropdown menu, select Everything.

3. Check the boxes for Cookies and Cache.

4. Click Clear Now.

Safari:

1. Go to the Safari menu at the top of the screen and click Edit.

2. Select Preferences.

3. Click Privacy at the top of the window that opens.

4. Click the Remove All Website Data button and then click Remove Now.

5. Click the X to close the pop-up window.
